SKM Talk with Communities from Sebangkat and Selakan

The Semporna Islands Project team recently conducted a successful courtesy visit to the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCOM), a key stakeholder in our efforts. We engaged in valuable discussions regarding the project’s progress and crucial challenges, including security concerns, the well-being of local communities, and the detrimental impact of fish bombing. We are committed to fostering a strong collaborative relationship with ESSCOM to ensure our project’s alignment with local priorities and the effective resolution of these complex issues. We extend our sincere gratitude to ESSCOM for their time, insights, and unwavering dedication to safeguarding the Semporna Islands.

Thanks to the generous support of the European Union in Malaysia European Union in ASEAN, the Semporna Islands Project, in partnership with WWF-Malaysia is tackling the issue of fish bombing in Semporna.  This work, the Community Action for Fish-Bomb-Free Semporna Seas project, is being done in close collaboration with Sabah Parks and local communities.
