Ocean nursery cages set-up for giant clam

Description

In an effort to promote sustainable marine life within the Tun Sakaran Marine Park, the Semporna Islands Project (SIP) hatchery team has successfully deployed newly fabricated cages for the giant clam ocean nurseries. This effort is part of a larger project that not only bolsters biodiversity, but also provides alternative livelihood opportunities for the surrounding communities. The giant clam program helps to restore the reef, and also gives the local people the ability to create sustainable income. This work is vital to the health of the reefs, and the health of the community that lives around them.
